Sport Injury Study: Goals

The goal of this study program is to further examine preseason predictors of injury in youth, effectiveness of individually targeted prevention strategies to augment group based approaches to injury prevention and examine long term impact of injury among youth specifically related to the development of OA and decreased levels of physical activity.

Objectives:

  1. To identify the predictability of sport injury among sport-specific participants and junior high school students through preseason screening.
  2. To determine the effectiveness of sport-specific and  physical education curriculum-based sport injury prevention program in reducing the risk of sport injury among youth.
  3. To evaluate the risk of post-traumatic OA related to sport injury among youth.
