Pedestrian Study: Goals

The goal of this study is to build on work examining built features of the child pedestrian environment, perceptual-cognitive factors, and the interaction between built and perceptual-cognitive factors as determinants of child pedestrian injury. The specific objectives are:

  1. To develop and test different protocols to identify best practices for training children for safe street-crossing in a virtual reality context.
  2. To determine if a more portable partially-immersive virtual reality system can yield comparable results in training children in street safety as the fully immersive system.
